NOTE, THIS IS A REVISED COMMENT, PLEASE REPLACE THE ORIGINAL ONE. Definitely worth the price, especially if you have limited funds, are handy around a whetstone, and especially if only need them for light usage. If you're skilled enough to be able to do the initial sharpening/honeing/polishing and keep after these as required, so much the better as the blades are not too hard. As with many tools, sharpening these should not be done with a high speed grinder or narrow belt sander, due to the chance of overheating the edge and losing the temper. [That being said, softer steel as these have IS easier to hand sharpen than harder steel would be.] These have only slightly eased square cross section shanks that some people may find uncomfortable without doing at least some additional radiusing, but they can also be helpful by providing a position reference for the cutting edge.: Reviewer: Donald from Del Rio, TN - 11/24/2009 : Reviewer: Donald from Del Rio, TN - 11/24/2009
