Characteristic of many inexpensive loupes, vision is only clear in the center 50% of the 15mm field, but it seems to be a true 12X, and the size and weight of the item makes it ideal for carrying in a pocket. The head seals well into it's outer plastic case, which will help keep dust & dirt away from the lens. Excellent value.
