Dapping blocks are used to form soft metal into a dome shape. Any bendable metal can be used. Common uses are for coins, sheet metals, bottle caps, and more.
The dapping block is used in conjunction with a dapping punch, sold separately.
Simply put the item to be formed into the appropriately sized dapping indent. Tap on the dapping punch with a haer until you have the shape you desire.
Note: it can be helpful to perform other operations, such as hole drilling, cutting, or engraving prior to dapping.
Dapping block measures: 2 inch x 2 inch x 2 inch.
Sizes of holes range from about 1 1/8 inch to about 1 3/4 inch.
The smaller dapping punch measures 1/2 inch flat on one end and 5/8 inch domed on the other end.
The larger dapping punch measures 13/16 inch domed on one end and 3/4 inch domed on the other end.
